In Karnataka there are total 57 Medical Colleges offering MBBS Course as on August 2024 among these 19 are Government Medical Colleges, 30 are private Medical Colleges and 9 are Deemed Medical Colleges. Total 6995 MBBS Seats available in Karnataka including Government and Private Medical Colleges, In Karnataka total 2750 MBBS Seats available in Government Medical Colleges among these 412 MBBS Seats Under All India 15% Quota and 2338 MBBS Seats available in State Quota. CLASSIFICATION OF MBBS SEATS IN KARNATAKA MEDICAL COLLEGES-2024

Only UG NEET 2024 qualified candidates who become eligible after verification of documents, are allowed to participate in the allotment of Medical / Dental seats as per the eligibility & reservation criteria for the respective types of seats which is detailed in the subsequent pages.

(G): GOVERNMENT SEATS

Means and includes seats in Government colleges and Government share of seats in Private colleges.

• 100% of Seats in Government colleges

• 40% of Seats in case of Medical and 35% in case of Dental in Private Non‐Minority colleges (KPCF)

• 25% of Seats in both medical & dental Private Minority (Religious & Linguistic) colleges.

(P): PRIVATE SEATS

Means seats in Private Colleges (KPCF, AMPCK, and KRLMPCA)

In KPCF Colleges: 40% seats in case of Medical and 45% in the case of Dental seats reserved as private quota seats.

• *GMP seats: For 50% of the above 40% or 45% seats as the case may be, only Karnataka candidates are eligible (referred as GMP seats / GMP with Hyd‐Kar seats in case of colleges located in Hyd‐Kar region).

• OPN seats: Remaining 50% of the above 40% or 45% seats as the case may be are “OPEN” quota seats: These seats are filled based on NEET UG All India merit and only Citizens of India are eligible.

55% of seats reserved as private quota seats.

• 66% of the above seats will be filled by respective religious /linguistic minority candidates (MK, MA, ME, MU, MC, MM seats).

• In 34% of the above seats

• *GMP: 50% of the above 34% seats are reserved for candidate of Karnataka Candidates (GMP seats).

• OPN: 50% of the above 34% seats are reserved for All India candidates who are Citizen of India (OPN seats).

*Karnataka Candidates and who are claiming eligibility for Government seats under clauses (a), (b), (f), (h), (j), (k), (l) and (o) are only eligible for GMP seats.

🏥 Karnataka NEET UG Medical Admission – Domicile Rules

For admission under the 85% State Quota in Karnataka, NEET UG 2025 aspirants must satisfy at least one of the following domicile eligibility criteria. These rules help determine who qualifies as a Karnataka candidate.

✅ Eligibility Criteria for Karnataka State Quota (85% Seats)
    1.    7 Years of Education in Karnataka
Candidate has studied in a government or recognized institution in Karnataka for a minimum of 7 academic years between Class 1 and 12.
    2.    Parents Studied in Karnataka
Candidate has passed Class 11 and 12 from a Karnataka institution, and either parent has studied in Karnataka for at least 7 years.
    3.    Mother Tongue Criteria (Kannada/Tulu/Kodava)
    •    Candidate’s and parents’ mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava.
    •    Parents are domiciled in Karnataka.
    4.    Studied Outside Karnataka
Candidates who studied outside Karnataka but claim eligibility through mother tongue or parent domicile must appear for a Kannada Language Test.
    5.    Defence Personnel
Candidate’s parent is a defence personnel who has served in Karnataka for at least 1 year.
    6.    Children of Ex-Servicemen
Candidates whose ex-servicemen parents have declared Karnataka as their home state are eligible.
    7.    Government Employees
Either parent is a Central or State Government employee who has served in Karnataka for at least 1 year.
    8.    Children of Karnataka MPs
Children of Members of Parliament elected from Karnataka are eligible, even if they studied Class 12 outside the state.
    9.    Migrants from Jammu & Kashmir
Candidates whose parents are migrants from J&K must provide valid supporting documents.
    10.    Kannada Medium Students
Candidates who studied in Kannada Medium for 10 full academic years anywhere in India are exempt from the Kannada Language Test but must have passed their qualifying examination from a Govt. or Govt. recognised institution.
    11.    CAPF Personnel
Children of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel who have declared Karnataka as their home state are eligible. Valid domicile proof from the competent authority must be submitted when required.

🚫 Non-Karnataka Candidates

Candidates who do not meet any of the above criteria will be treated as Non-Karnataka candidates. They are eligible only for Open/Management/NRI quota seats and not for the 85% state quota seats.
